Balancing Business Goals and Motherhood in the New Year

As the New Year unfolds, it's time for reflection, growth, and setting new goals for both our personal and professional lives. As a photographer who’s passion behind the lens is rooted in motherhood + raising littles, and who is very much still in the throes of it myself, finding that delicate balance between a thriving business and quality family time is my top priority. 2023 brought GLP growth that I can only describe as humbling and motivating. I have loved every minute of getting to know each family and the genuine relationships that have been made - yet with that growth, I also found myself (at times) riding the waves rather than steering the boat. A priority for me in the year ahead is to be more intentional. Intentional with my time, my energy, my family, my photography projects, all of it.

Read on for my top 5 goals for the coming year and some insights into how I plan to harmonize my photography business with the joy of raising my girls.

01. ELEVATING CLIENT EXPIERENCE

In 2024, my focus will be on elevating my client’s experience from the first point of contact though the last email, and hopefully a review! This means not only delivering exceptional images but also ensuring that every client feels valued and cared for. Personalized styling + vision boards, thoughtful communication, and unique, tailor-made sessions, I want to be the hallmark of my business.

02. TIME MANAGEMENT & PRODUCTIVITY

Balancing the demands of a growing photography business with family commitments requires time management. This year, I aim to implement more efficient scheduling tools, workflows and automations. To create dedicated time blocks for both work and family. By mastering time management, I hope to maximize productivity and feel less stretched for attention.

03. WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER

I love this phrase! This year I plan on utilizing several new apps/services to help cut down on tedious tasks and streamline my workflow, allowing me more time with my family. Driversnote, an app that helps track my mileage for tax purposes is one example. If you aren’t keeping track of your miles for anything and everything business related, you are missing out BIG on tax-qualifying expenses.

04. NURTURING MY CREATIVITY

Creativity is the heartbeat of my photography, and I am committed to nurturing and expanding it in the coming year. This involves attending workshops, collaborating with fellow artists, more model calls and exploring new interests. By keeping my creative itch alive, I can offer my clients fresh experiences while fostering a sense of fulfillment.

05. PRIORITIZING FAMILY TIME

Above all, the most important part of my life is my family. In the New Year, I pledge to prioritize and cherish this time. This means setting boundaries, I’m not taking on as many weekends, being present during our time together (hello social media blocking apps), and creating a work environment that allows for more control over my schedule.

As I continue on this journey of achieving my business goals and nurturing my family, I know there will always be challenges. However, I firmly believe that by setting boundaries, realistic goals, and embracing the support of my community, I can create a harmonious and fulfilling life.

Here's to capturing life’s moments in the New Year with a strong sense of direction and self worth. And cheers to a year of growth, balance, and the gift of life! If you are interested in joining me for a studio day, please get in touch!

Love, Georgia
